I enjoy putting creativity and vision into shaping clay, but in the end it's the fire that dictates success or failure. I think this is what makes pottery attractive - working with basic elements and giving nature a role to play. My vision is only part of the process - I put all of my skill and energy into creating a piece of pottery but the kiln dictates what I get back. The power of the fire is a constant source of amazement and joy to me.
